The giant of IPL, Chennai Super Kings starts their season against a shaky Mumbai Indians at the
chinnaswamy Stadium in the second game of Saturday. Our quantitative analysis shows that CSK
has close to 60% chances of winning this encounter against MI who about 40% chances
of winning.
Mumbai Indians who lost their opening match to Royal Challengers Bangalore in a thrilling
encounter by just 2 runs will be looking to bounce back. The much talked pair of Sachin Tendulkar
and Ricky Pointing who share more than 60,000 international runs amongst them fails to impress on
Thursday night. Both of them looked unconvincing and their running between the wickets looked
wobbly.
Rohit Sharma a huge bundle of talent lost his wicket while playing across the line frivolously and
Ambati rayudu's run a ball effort was not of much help either. Mumbai Indian will sorely miss Lasith
Malinga again in the Saturday's bout as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister restrain in letting Sri Lankan
Players to play in the state.
This means Mumbai Indian will retain their same overseas players- Ricky Pointing, Pollard and
Jhonson. Jacob Oram likely to be replaced by Glen Maxwell on whom Mumbai spent whopping $1
million. Munaf Patel will also possibly miss out the match as he conceded 40 runs in his 4 overs
against RCB.
Mumbai's toughest challenge would be dealing the Chennai's ominous batting order start with
Michael Hussey, Murli Vijay, Suresh Raina then lead to MS Dhoni, Dwayne Bravo, Badrinath and
Albie Morkel.
Chennai Super Kings bought 5 bowlers at the auction with one purpose which is to tighten their
bowling strength. Dirk Nannes & west Indian pacer Jason Holder are the forefront runner in making
the playing XI, but it would be interesting to see how Chennai Super kings muck around their
bowling line up considering Hussey and Bravo their first preference.
Morkel and Morris are doubtful due to their domestic commitment and the Sri Lakan Pacer Nuwan
Kulasekara and offspiner Akila Dananjaya not open for selection, this could paved the way for Baba
Aparajith for his IPL debut in the middle order. If not then Chennai Super Kings would retain their
two overseas bowlers for the encounter against Mumbai Indians.
