Prediction: Rajasthan (53%) have a slight edge over Mumbai (47%) (Match scorecard)

This is a great opportunity for the Rajasthan Royals to climb up to the second position in the points table and cement their spot for the knock-out stage of the tournament. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians have to win this match if they are to have any chances, whatever little it may be, of proceeding to the knockout stage. The Royals are the clear favorite going into this match, but our model gives only a slight advantage to them. This match may turn out to be closer than what is expected.

The Mumbai Indians top order batting lineup has not lived up to its mark, but their real weakness has been their inability to take wickets. Outside of Lasith Malinga and Harbhajan Singh, their bowling attack has been nonchalant at best. Their bowlers have taken only 46 wickets in 10 matches - which averages to less than five wickets an inning. They have the second-worst bowling attack in the tournament, marginally better than only the lowly Delhi Daredevils. Even if the Indians win this match, they are unlikely to sniff the knock-out stage this season. They still have an outstanding chance to steal this match from Rajasthan Royals though.

Cricmetric's current prediction success rate for IPL 2014: 24/43 (56%)
