Prediction: Punjab (59%) predicted to defeat Delhi (41%) (Match scorecard)

This is a dead rubber match, as dead as there could be one in this season. Neither are the Kings XI Punjab going to lose their top position if they lose this match, nor are the Delhi Daredevils going to go up from the bottom of the table if they win this match. What this means is that both the teams may experiment with their squad and give chance to new players in this match. Punjab may want to rest some of their players to keep them fresh for the playoffs, while Delhi would want to try out other players in the squad with an eye on the next season.

Based on the current strength of the two teams, it is a no brainer that Punjab have a definite upper hand in this match. However, if in case Punjab decides to rest too many of their regulars and field a brand new team, things could be different. In any case, as mentioned before, this match is only of academic interest. It will either be another momentum builder for Punjab, or the last hurrah from Delhi.

Cricmetric's current prediction success rate for IPL 2014: 29/54 (54%)
