Prediction: Mumbai (52%) predicted to narrowly defeat Chennai (48%) (Match scorecard)

Mumbai Indians' batting was supposed to be their biggest strength in this tournament, but in their first two matches it has been quite disappointing. Part of the problem lies with their batting lineup - they have opened with Mike Hussey and Aditya Tare, but have got opening stands of only 20 and 24 so far. It makes no sense for Mumbai to have their best batsmen come lower down the order, and they will be better off partnering Hussey with Rohit Sharma, or at the very least Ambati Rayudu. Hussey's form has also been rusty, but he is too good a batsman to under-perform for a long period of time. If their top order can give the team a strong start, then they have two excellent finishers in Keiron Pollard and Corey Anderson to give a big push to their score in the death overs.

Chennai, on the other hand, certainly have momentum have on their side after winning their previous two matches. They look quite strong even after losing Dwayne Bravo. Most importantly, they have the leadership of MS Dhoni who knows how to handle himself and his team in tense situations. This will be a close match between Chennai and Mumbai, but our model gives a slight advantage to Mumbai going into this match.
