Prediction: Hyderabad (59%) expected to defeat Mumbai (41%) (Match scorecard)

From first to worst. That succinctly summarizes the current state of Mumbai Indians. On the paper, Mumbai Indians' batting looks imposing, but they have really struggled to score runs. Mike Hussey was the top run scorer in the last season of IPL, yet he has struggled to score runs this season. Corey Anderson took the Cricketing world by storm when he scored the fastest century in ODIs, but has yet to show the same form in IPL. To some extent, the batting woes of Mumbai Indians have been self inflicted, as their top batsmen have all been coming much lower down the order. By the time they have taken the guard, both runs and balls have been in short supply, putting additional pressure on them. They tried to rectify it in their previous match, but all they managed was a total of 125 runs against Delhi. They should continue to stick with this new batting order. They can make a few more changes - perhaps it is finally the time to drop Mike Hussey in favor of, say, Ben Dunk?

Mumbai will really want to find an oasis in the Arabian desert before heading over to India. They are facing another bottom-dweller in the points table, Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, Hyderabad are no pushover themselves, and are better positioned going into this match. Hyderabad have had their own issues with the batting lineup, but they were at least able to put a big total on the board against Delhi and secure a win. Their bowling attack is superior, and Mumbai Indians might struggle again to score runs. Our model gives a definite edge to Hyderabad, who will most likely keep the Mumbai Indians winless in the Arabian leg of the tournament.

Cricmetric's current prediction success rate for IPL 2014: 10/19 (53%)
