Prediction: Bangalore (53%) predicted to defeat Mumbai (47%) (Match scorecard)

Both Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be heartened by the improvement in their batting, which helped both of them to successfully chase a sizeable target in their respective previous matches. Despite having world class batsmen in their teams, both of them had problems with their top order, but it seems they might be putting their indifferent batting form behind them. For Mumbai, their first victory was especially sweet, since it came against the table toppers Kings XI Punjab. For Bangalore, AB de Villiers returning back to form can only be a good news for them. He, together with captain Virat Kohli, are two of the best limited over batsmen in the world. Combined together with Chris Gayle, this is the most potent batting attack of all teams, and they are hitting their stride only now.

While both the teams may finally have sorted out their batting problems, it is their bowling attack that distinguishes them. For all their batting prowess, Bangalore have surprised everyone by having the best bowling attack so far in the tournament - their bowling unit has the lowest team economy rate so far. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians bowlers have given away almost a run extra per over as compared to their Bangalore counterparts. Moreover, the Indians bowlers have never been able to take more than five wickets in any match in this season yet. The superior bowling attack is what gives Bangalore an edge going into this match, and they should be able to sneak in a victory on their opponent's turf.

Cricmetric's current prediction success rate for IPL 2014: 15/26 (58%)
