Match scorecard)
Kolkata Knight Riders have the
lowest team batting average (19.0) of all the teams so far in this season. Delhi Daredevils bowlers have the
highest team bowling average (43.5) and team economy rate (8.40) so far in this season. In a way, this is a contest between the worst batting unit and the worst bowling unit. This also explains why the two teams have struggled mightily. Delhi Daredevils shot themselves in the foot during the player auction when they spent all their money on high priced batsmen and did not get an ace bowler for the team. On the other hand, Kolkata batsmen have under-performed throughout this season. Gautam Gambhir may have returned to form, but now their middle order is unable to score runs, as highlighted by the collapse in their
previous match against Rajasthan.
The battle between these two struggling teams is expected to be a close one, but Kolkata Knight Riders are expected to sneak out a win at Delhi's home ground. The Knight Riders have been in a good position in most of their matches, only to give away the initiative at a critical juncture of the game. If they can hold their nerve and keep a firm grip on the proceeding throughout, they should come out on top in this match.
