Prediction: Bangalore (51%) predicted to defeat Rajasthan (49%) in a low-scoring thrilling contest (Match scorecard)

This one is going to be an interesting match. Even though Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore are relatively far apart in the points table - Rajasthan is currently 3rd and Bangalore is 6th - the teams match up well in terms of their batting and bowling strengths. In fact, if you look at their team average batting and bowling statistics, the two teams are practically indistinguishable. Their bowling units are two of the best in this season so far. The batting of both the teams has struggled and not performed up to expectations.

All of this points to an exciting, low-scoring affair which will most likely go down to the wire. Really speaking, this is anyone's match, but our model gives a slight advantage go Bangalore. So here is our bold prediction on what is going to happen. As we said before, this will be a low-scoring match, and the batsmen of both the teams will struggle to score runs. The team batting first will not cross 150. The chasing team will take the match to at least the last over in the second innings. The victory margin will be no more than 10 runs. Virat Kohli will finally find his form in this match, and will lead his team to a hard-fought victory.

Cricmetric's current prediction success rate for IPL 2014: 19/33 (58%)
