Prediction: Rajasthan (56%) predicted to defeat Delhi (44%) (Match scorecard)

With eight losses already, Delhi Daredevils are set to end this season with a losing record, and most likely at the bottom of the points table. At this stage, their role is more of a spoiler than a playoff contender, and Rajasthan Royals is one of the teams whose party they will be looking forward to spoil. Rajasthan are currently in the third place, but by no means they have a guaranteed berth for the knock-out stage. So the stakes are higher for them in this match. Not only will they be looking forward to winning this match, but they would also want to defeat the hapless Daredevils with a big margin so that it boosts their net run-rate. Our prediction model tells us that Rajasthan are well placed to defeat the Daredevils, but the margin of victory may not be a substantial one.

There are several reasons for a repeat poor performance from Delhi Daredevils, but one particular statistic summarizes their misery succinctly. The Daredevils bowlers have taken an astonishingly low 3.4 wickets per match. Which means that they haven't even been able to challenge the lower order of most of the teams they have faced. The fact that their bowlers are unable to take wickets means that the opposing batsmen have been afforded the opportunity to take more risks, which has ballooned their team economy rate to a league-worst 8.59. When the season gets over, the team will have many things to ponder over, but first they will need to get their bowling in order if they are to present themselves as a serious contender in the next season.
