Prediction: Hyderabad (53%) predicted to defeat Kolkata (47%) (Match scorecard)

This is the stage in IPL where one witnesses dogfights between several teams for the last remaining spot for the knock-out stage. Such a kind of battle Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders will fight tomorrow. These are two teams of mostly equal strength, but who have under-performed in part throughout the season. Both the team had issues with batting, though Kolkata seems to have recovered from their initial batting slump, with Gautam Gambhir roaring back to form and Robin Uthappa playing a steady hand at the top order.

This will be a battle mainly between the Kolkata's top order batting and Hyderabad's fast bowling attack. How Gambhir and Uthappa play out the top bowling duo of Steyn and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the key to the outcome of this match. Hyderabad's bowling is fairly mediocre outside of their fast bowling attack, and Kolkata's batting isn't too inspiring after their top two. Therefore both the teams will be looking to maximizing the gains in the early overs when Kolkata bat and Hyderabad bowl. Whosoever wins this mini-battle is likely to win the dogfight between these two contenders for the knock-out stage as well.

Cricmetric's current prediction success rate for IPL 2014: 24/41 (59%)
