Indian Premier League player auction 2015

The auction for the Indian Premier League season in 2015 is about to commence in a few hours. We will be updating the results of the auction on the IPL player salary page in real time, as soon as the results of the player auctions are announced.

Per the official IPL home page, there are 346 players up for auction. The total salary cap for this season is Rs. 63 crores (approximately $10.5 MM at current exchange rates) for each team. Each team was allowed to retain any number of players from their squad of the previous season. The salaries of the retained players will be counted against the salary cap. The remaining players can put themselves up for this year’s auction, together with other players who did not play in the last season. Each team is allowed to have a maximum of 27 players on its roster, and out of those 27 a maximum of 9 players can be overseas players.

The Delhi Daredevils team, which did the maximum house clearing after a dismal season last year, have the maximum salary cap remaining at $6.625 MM. Among the players they released include Dinesh Karthik, Kevin Pietersen and Murali Vijay. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings retained most of their players, and have only $800 K to spend at this auction.

Among the new players who will be entering the auction and did not play in the last season, are Hashim Amla, Angelo Mathews, Eoin Morgan, Kumar Sangakkara, Aaron Finch and Mahela Jayawardene.
