We just added the new batsman versus bowler matchup tool on Cricmetric, the link for which you will find in the top menu of the web page. Using this tool, you can find the matchup history between a bowler and a batsman. The results page displays the following matchup data between the two players for the ODIs played in the past 10 years, all the International T20 matches and all the five IPL seaons: The number of balls faced by the batsman (wide/no ball deliveries are excluded), the runs scored by the batsman(extras are excluded), the total outs made by the bowler against the batsman (run outs are excluded), and the strike rate of the batsman against the bowler. The aggregate match-up statistics for the three limited over formats are also displayed.
Example: Match-up between Ricky Ponting and Harbhajan Singh
This tool can be used to field the right team combination in fantasy cricket, where for example you might want to avoid fielding a batsman who does not have a good match-up history with the bowlers in the opposing team. Team management can also use this tool to target a batsman with the right bowler during the course of a game.
Note that the matchup tool is currently in beta, so expect some changes in the coming days. The match data for the year 2012 is incomplete in our database – some of the recent matches have not yet been added. Additionally, data for ODIs for the year 2005 and 2006 is incomplete for some of the players, and we are working to fix our database as soon as possible.
