World T20 2014: Predictions for March 22 matches

Sri Lanka vs South Africa

Prediction: Sri Lanka have a 55% chance of beating South Africa

Sri Lanka are fielding one of the strongest teams in this tournament, and are definitely a favorite to win it all this time. They have both a very good batting as well as a bowling lineup.

Wild cards: Watch out for Ajantha Mendis, who has the ability to really exploit the sub-continent conditions to his maximum advantage. If he gets rolling, then South African batting could be in a big trouble.

For South Africa, David Miller can be a real trump card. He showed his immense T20 abilities during last year’s IPL, and will be keen to bring that form to the World T20 tournament.

England vs New Zealand

Prediction: England expect to edge out New Zealand in a close encounter.

With their recent string of good performances at home, New Zealand are riding high into this tournament. However, England is expected to be up to task against them, who themselves have a few excellent T20 players in Eoin Morgan and Ravi Bopara. We expect a close encounter between the two teams, but in the end England should come out on the top.

Wild cards: Corey Anderson’s T20I record is not much to speak of, but dude has been in a monstrous form in the ODIs this year. His player score in T20I format is fairly low, so we might be underestimating New Zealand’s chances here. If he clicks, there is not much that England will be able to do. Expect him to play a big role in this match.
