Prediction: Mumbai Indians (53%) expected to edge out Kolkata Knight Riders (47%) in a close match.

For predicting the outcome of IPL matches, we are using the same model as we used for predicting the outcome of World T20 tournament matches. In that tournament, we were able to successfully predict the outcome of 15 out of 23 matches in the main round and the knock-out stage of the tournament, for a success rate of 65%. We are confident of improving upon that in this season of IPL!
The first match will be a contest between the defending champions and the champions from two seasons ago. We expect the match to be a close one, but Mumbai Indians have an upper hand going into the match, and they are predicted to win the first contest.
