The Delhi Daredevils were the cellar dwellers in the previous season of IPL, and the management decided to completely overhaul the squad in order to field a competitive eleven in this season. The team did not retain a single player from the previous season, and they spent a massive 10 million dollars in this year’s player auction, the most of any team. Unfortunately for the Delhi Daredevils, they did not spend their money wisely, and they end up at the bottom of the table again in our ranking of the IPL teams.

The team has a solid batting strength in Dinesh Karthik, Kevin Pietersen, Murali Vijay, JP Duminy and Quinton de Kock. Their bowling attack, however, is fairly mediocre. They do not have a single “ace” bowler, and this is likely to be their achilles’ heel throughout the tournament.

Roster management: Five of the top eleven players in the Delhi Daredevils team are from overseas, so they will need to juggle around a little bit when finalizing their playing eleven. It is likely that one or both of NM Coulter-Nile and Wayne Parnell will have to sit out in favor of a batsman.

Dark horse: Kevin Pietersen did not play in last year’s IPL, and he has just been axed from the England’s international side. He certainly has a lot to prove, and IPL might just be the perfect opportunity for him to silence his critics.
