Delhi Daredevils appeared to have made a good start against the formidable Royal Challengers Bangalore in their first match, but alas they choked in the chase of a modest 157 target, and lost the match by 15 runs. The Daredevils have had three consecutive mediocre IPL seasons so far. Will they be able to break the jinx this year? To do so, they need to open their account in the win column first. But Rising Pune Supergiant will also present a big challenge to them, given that Delhi lost to them in both the matches the two teams played last season.

Team News

The Rising Pune Supergiant have a relatively well-settled team, and in the batting unit at least they don’t need to make any change. Their bowling however hasn’t been up to mark in the first two matches. They might want to swap out the consistently expensive Ashok Dinda with Adam Zampa or Ishwar Pandey. Pune have several good overseas players to choose from, which makes it challenging for them to pick the best four overseas players for the team. Captain Smith, Imran Tahir and Ben Stokes are shoo-in, with the fourth overseas spot most likely going to Adam Zampa or Dan Christian.

Delhi will be ruing losing out on a good chance to score a win against Bangalore. They will also rue releasing Tahir before the auction, who has since then been pickup by Rising Pune Supergiant and has been performing quite well for them. They will have Angelo Mathews at their disposal as well, but he isn’t quite 100%
yet and is unlikely to play.

Pitch and Weather Report
The Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium at Pune is a high-scoring ground, and has seen average score of 180 runs in the first innings. Even with that, teams batting first on this pitch don’t have a distinct advantage, as the match outcome is equally split between teams batting first and second. A high scoring game therefore seems more likely, and the team winning the toss will most likely bat first to rack up a big total and put pressure on the chasing team. The weather in Pune is expected to be hot and dry at the start of the match, with temperatures in the range of 35 degrees celcius.
